Fidel Castro, padre de la Revolución Cubana de 1959, ha muerto después
de 90 años de una vida de rebelión y resistencia. Que esta
extraordinaria figura revolucionaria haya tenido tan larga vida es, en
verdad, una victoria sin precedentes, porque Fidel sobrevivió por lo
menos 11 atentados contra su vida por parte de la Central de
Inteligencia de los Estados Unidos, la CIA.
¡El gobierno de los Estados Unidos ha admitido 11 atentados contra la vida de Fidel!
En su juventud, Fidel se graduó como abogado, pero nunca practicó esa profesión; él
tomó el camino revolucionario --y empezó su lucha contra Fulgencio
Batista, el dictador cubano mantenido por los Estados Unidos. Esa
lucha, que culminó con la caída de Batista, inspiró a los pueblos
alrededor del mundo.
Uno
de los inspirados por la Revolución Cubana fue el ya desaparecido, Huey
P. Newton, co-fundador del Partido de las Panteras Negras, quien en una
entrevista desde la cárcel, en 1967, dijo:
“Cuando Fidel Castro, con Che Guevara y 12 más, comenzó la Revolución, ellos pensaron que no podrían derrotar al opresivo régimen de Cuba. Esencialmente ellos eran un grupo educativo. Ellos confrontaron al ejército, pelearon contra el ejército, y mostraron al pueblo que el ejército no era a prueba de balas, que la policía no era a prueba de balas. Y que el régimen de Batista no era un régimen imposible de derrocar, entonces el pueblo cubano sintió la fuerza de su poder.”
Fidel fue amigo de Malcolm X, y por toda su vida fue amigo de África. El régimen racista del Apartheid de África del Sur fue derrotado en Angola, con decenas de miles de tropas cubanas en los campos de batalla. En la célebre batalla de Cuito Carneval, Angola, fue donde el Apartheid de África del Sur vió las señales sangrientas de su destrucción.
Fidel Castro dijo una vez:
“Sangre africana corre por nuestras venas. Muchos de nuestros antepasados vinieron de África como esclavos a nuestras tierras. Sufrieron mucho como esclavos. Lucharon como parte del ejército libertador de Cuba. Nosotros somos hermanos y hermanas de los pueblos de África, y estamos listos a luchar con los pueblos Africanos.”
Fidel Castro y la Revolución Cubana jamás se inclinaron al Imperio de los Estados Unidos... Ni una sola vez, jamás, en más de medio siglo.
La Revolución Cubana produjo el mejor sistema de educación en el Caribe y en gran parte del mundo. Han enviado sus médicos a curar por todas partes, alrededor de la Tierra.
El mundo llora hoy la muerte de un gigante.

Fidel
Castro, father of the 1959 Cuban Revolution, has died, after 90 years
of a life of rebellion and resistance. That this bold revolutionary
figure lived as long as he did is itself a victory, for he outlived at
least 11 assassination attempts launched by the CIA.

As
a young man, he earned a law degree, but he never practiced; he took
the revolutionary path--and began a struggle against the US-supported
Cuban dictator, Fulgencia Batista. That struggle, which led to the fall
of Batista, inspired people all around the world.
One of those inspired was the late Huey P. Newton, cofounder of the Black Panther Party, who, in a 1967 jail interview, noted:
“When
Fidel Castro started the Revolution, along with Che Guevara, with 12 of
them altogether, they realized that they wouldn't be able to topple
the, uh, oppressive regime in Cuba. What they were essentially was an
educational body. They engaged with the Army, they fought with the Army,
and, uh, they showed the people that the army was not bullet-proof,
that the police were not bullet-proof. And that Batista's regime was not
a regime that was impossible to topple, so the people began to feel

Fidel
was a friend of Malcolm X, and a life long friend of Africa. The racist
regime of Apartheid South Africa got whipped in Angola, with tens of
thousands of Cuban troops in the field. The notorious battle of Cuito
Carneval, Angola was where South Africa saw the bloody handwriting on
the wall.
Castro once said:
“African
blood flows in our veins. Many of our Ancestors came as slaves from
Africa to this land. As slaves they struggled quite a great deal. They
fought as members of the liberating army of Cuba. We're brothers and
sisters of the people of Africa and we are ready to fight in their
behalf.”
Fidel Castro and the Cuban Revolution never bowed to the US Empire--not once in over ½ a century.
The
Cuban Revolution produced the finest educational system in the
Caribbean and much of the world. They have sent their doctors all around
the Earth.
The world mourns the passing of a giant.
